6th ANNUAL COMMUNITY-WIDE SPELLING BEE

The winning team: SPELLBINDERS OF DOWNINGWOOD
More pictures will be posted soon.
Meanwhile, read all about it at The Daily Tarrytown.
HERE'S HOW IT WORKS
Teams of three compete against three other teams to win a round. The enunciator pronounces a word, defines it, and uses it in a sentence. Team members have thirty seconds to consult with each other and write the word on a white board. If they misspell it, they're eliminated. Otherwise they continue until theirs is the only team to have spelled a given word correctly. Then they can relax until they compete in the championship round for the chance to win the trophy.
When not participating in a round, contestants sit in the audience with their friends, neighbors, colleagues, and kids enjoying the laughs, the music, the entertainment, and the refreshments, and hopefully taking home one of the beautiful goody-filled raffle baskets.
If you'd like to be a sponsor, contribute a raffle prize, place an ad in the program, or volunteer to help us organize and run the event, please contact us .
Better yet, compete for the trophy! Form a team of three contestants, choose a captain and a clever team name, then register here. The registration fee of $150 per team is due two weeks after we receive your registration. (Tip: Get your friends and neighbors to sponsor you! Remind them that all the proceeds go directly to the Irvington Public Library!)
